Liz Havstad

Liz Havstad is the Director of Civic Engagement and Strategic Growth for the Hip Hop Caucus, a national, non-profit organization that engages young people in the civic process by connecting cultural expression to political experience.  In the various roles she has played at the Hip Hop Caucus, Liz has implemented national campaigns, regional and national tours, advocacy efforts and Capitol Hill lobby days.  She directed two award-winning campaigns: the “Make Hip Hop Not War” campaign including a 32 city tour in 2007; and the “Respect My Vote!” campaign in 2008, with spokespeople such as T.I. and Keyshia Cole. Prior to her work on poverty and inequality in the United States, Liz worked in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with Mega-Cities, an international NGO that works towards urban sustainability. Currently her work focuses on the “Respect My Vote!” voter mobilization campaign and coalition for 2012.
